Mediterranean-style architecture can be found throughout the Jacksonville area, across properties of all sizes. Drawing references from the Spanish Renaissance, the Italian Renaissance, and Moorish architecture among others, Mediterranean-style architecture made its way to coastal regions as a result of a rise in popularity in the early 20th century. You’ll find homes, hotels, commercial structures, and apartment buildings in several neighborhoods that have adopted this gorgeous architectural style.
San Marco
The lovely San Marco community is perhaps best well-known for being an historic neighborhood just a short distance away from Downtown Jacksonville. Part of that history includes Mediterranean-style architecture, which can be found in the likes of the San Marco Place Condominiums, which range from 1,000 to 3,000 square feet all the way to The Carl S. Swisher Estate, also known as Villa Alexandria, which is over 8,000 square feet. The streets of San Marco are reminiscent of the business district of Venice, Italy, and the restaurants follow suit. Located on the Southbank of the St. John’s River, San Marco combines contemporary coastal design with historical Mediterranean style.
Tamaya
A new home community, Tamaya brings the Mediterranean to Jacksonville. Homes in Tamaya range from 1,800 to 4,000 square feet, and the Mediterranean influences are one of its greatest draws. Prices in Tamaya begin in the $500s, and that price tag packs a tremendous amount of value. Tamaya is a gated community with home sites that are lakefront and residents are only six miles away from the beach with access to some of the best schools in the area. Residents can enjoy the Tamaya Residents Club, which is home to over 10,000 square feet of shared amenities. At Tamaya, old world charm blends seamlessly with modern luxury.
Queens Harbour Yacht & Country Club
Perhaps one of the most exclusive neighborhoods in Jacksonville, the Queens Harbour Yacht & Country Club is home to some of the most opulent Mediterranean-style homes in the area. Houses featuring Mediterranean-style architecture begin at approximately $2 million and range from 3,000 to 7,000 square feet. It’s difficult to imagine a more serene and luxurious place to live, and the waterfront views are unmatched. The Queen’s Harbour waterfront community is gated and bounced on three sides by the St. Johns River. Enjoy golf and dining at the country club, and with a Clubcorp membership, you can take advantage of over 200 clubs, resorts, and spas around the world.
