Miramar is a lovely residential neighborhood located just south of Downtown Jacksonville and right alongside the St. Johns River. Easy access to Phillips Highway and Interstate 95 make Miramar a commuter’s dream location, and it also happens to be where Hendricks Avenue Elementary School is located, one of Jacksonville’s highest-rated elementary schools. But aside from an easy commute and a great school district, we love Miramar for its numerous public parks and green spaces, which include Colonial Manor Lake Park, Granada Park, Inward Park, and River Oaks Park. Whether it’s an occasional picnic, a place to take the kids to play, or just somewhere to take a walk or jog, Miramar's parks certainly help make it one of the best neighborhoods to call home for anyone who loves to get outside and stay active.
As for homes for sale in Miramar, prospective buyers will typically find quite the variety of options. Thanks to its riverfront location, large waterfront homes with private docks tend to stand out most. But all throughout the neighborhood’s interior are stately historic homes, long ’70s era ranch-style homes, and a plentiful mix of smaller brick and craftsman-style bungalows that won’t break the bank.
Bounded by Highway 90 and Highway 228 to the east and west, and the St. Johns River and Little Pottsburg Creek to the north and south, Jacksonville’s St. Nicholas neighborhood, in many ways, feels tucked away from the city’s hustle-and-bustle despite being just a few short minutes from downtown. Above all, however, St. Nicholas is perhaps most known for its rich history, scenic waterfront, and easy access to shopping, dining, and any number of cultural attractions, which all combine to help make the neighborhood one of Jacksonville's most sought-after places to call home.
This city's lively Southbank district also lies right next door to St. Nicholas, which of course is where you’ll find the Jacksonville Riverwalk, the Friendship Fountain, and the world-famous Treaty Oak—an octopus-like Southern live oak tree that is estimated to be over 250 years old. With St. Nicholas being a bit more limited in terms of overall housing, though, don’t expect to find a lot of available inventory here, especially during a down market. But if you’re looking for a reasonably priced Jacksonville bungalow in a top-notch location, St. Nicholas is always a neighborhood worth checking out.
